Canada West Veterinary Specialists is an exciting multi-disciplinary specialty referral practice with a dedicated 24-hour ERCC service.

We hold a unique designation as the only verified Veterinary Trauma Center in Western Canada, designated per the Veterinary Committee on Trauma (VetCOT).

We have 7 specialty departments, including Oncology, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery, Internal Medicine and Anesthesiology, with added services including Rehabilitation Therapy and an in-house lab.

Position:
Bookkeeper

JOB SUMMARY


Our Bookkeeper is responsible for recording and maintaining the key steps of the accounting cycle including transaction entry, journal entries and reporting.


DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:


  • Full accounts payable responsibility (bill entry, expense classification, payments, reconciliations).
  • Enter and classify credit card transactions.
  • Prepare customer refunds.
  • Periodic journal entry of daily revenues/ receivables.
  • Prepare periodic credit card reconciliations.
  • Prepare required documents for the external accounting firm.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements and accounting reports.
  • Assist with GST/PST actuals, selfassessment, submissions, and journals.
  • Post journal entries/adjustments as directed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organization and multitasking skills.
  • A great team player who enjoys working in a fastpaced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Enjoys structured, orderly, repetitive tasks.
  • Competent in excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage electronic files.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping or a related field, or combined with at least 1 year of working experience as a bookkeeper/ accounting clerk/ accounts receivable/payable clerk.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage electronic files.

HOURS OF WORK

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 am 4:30 pm.
