Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking a Library Services Supervisor for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Library department.

Reporting to the Manager, Library Operations, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Library, including the student-facing Library desk, providing supervision, training and schedule management of direct reports.

You will collaborate with the Faculty Advisor and Manager, Library Operations on staff workloads, upcoming projects, and schedule changes.

In addition, you will work collaboratively with Library staff and ITS Tech Support to coordinate the deployment, maintenance, replacement and upgrading of Library technology assets.


Other key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating student, staff and faculty appeals on fines, extensions, and other services;
  • Organizing and delegating temporary lending arrangements for external departments;
  • Liaising with University of Alberta Libraries and attending NEOS Access Meetings;
  • Providing reporting on Library operations to inform staffing, hours, and services decisions;
  • Performing circulation duties, including borrowing and collections, equipment assistance, account inquiries, receiving payments, and maintaining library materials;
  • Coordinating device repairs and troubleshooting basic issues with loaning inhouse technology;
  • Administering, overseeing and auditing technology device inventory;
  • Providing basic reference assistance in person and through messenger; and
  • Assisting students, staff and faculty with eResources.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of a diploma in Library Information Technology or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in library services.
  • A minimum of 1 years' supervisory or management experience, preferably in a library.
  • Experience developing schedules for a team.
  • Equivalences may be considered.
