Reporting to the Director, Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Business Development Manager, Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (RIE) for the Grey-Bruce region is plays a critical leadership role in connecting the community with Georgian College's Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre (HBEC), Research & Innovation (R&I), and Social Innovation (SI) departments.


The incumbent will champion the fusion of entrepreneurship, innovation, and research, playing a crucial part in bolstering economic and community development within Grey-Bruce.

The role will focus on the strategic development, coordination, and facilitation of initiatives that support individuals and organizations in starting, growing, and scaling their operations.

Under the guidance of the Executive Director of RIE and Directors of Entrepreneurship, Research and Innovation, and Social Innovation, the incumbent will serve as a key connector between Georgian College, local businesses, Indigenous communities, and economic development leaders, driving the success and expansion of RIE endeavors.


Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Executes a financially sustainable regional strategy that delivers comprehensive entrepreneurship supports and programming, applied research, and innovation projects.
  • Develops and maintains active partnerships with Business Enterprise Centers, economic development staff across municipalities and Indigenous communities.
  • Facilitates applied research initiatives by engaging faculty, students, and industry partners in identifying and scoping projects contributing to regional development goals
  • Prepares proposals for grant funding of applied research, innovation, and entrepreneurship initiatives.
  • Develops and delivers specialized programming for Indigenous communities in collaboration with local leaders and organizations, honouring the Saugeen Ojibway Nation's traditions and priorities.

  • Prepares proposals for grant funding of applied research, innovation, and entrepreneurship initiatives.
  • Develops and delivers specialized programming for Indigenous communities in collaboration with local leaders and organizations, honouring the Saugeen Ojibway Nation's traditions and priorities.
  • Oversees budget management, report generation, and the seamless execution of operational workflows within HBEC Grey-Bruce, ensuring high efficiency and effectiveness in program delivery.
  • Ensures strategic financial acumen to architect and implement a robust, selfsustaining funding model within two years to achieve operational sustainability
  • Identifies innovative revenue streams, forges strategic partnerships, and secures grants and investments that align with RIE's mission and growth objectives.
  • Represent RIE, HBEC and Georgian College in various forums, advocating for RIE initiatives and partnerships and articulating the Center's value proposition to stakeholders, potential funders, and the broader community.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Successfully completed a 3year Diploma or Degree program in in business administration, Entrepreneurship, Community Development, or a related field.
  • A master's degree in a relevant discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in the entrepreneurial or business support innovation sector
  • Experience developing and delivering learning programs, conducting program evaluation and using continuous improvement to ensure effective programming.
  • Experience in program development aligned to entrepreneurs / business training.
  • Experience cultivating relationships that foster collaboration and networking in a regional business ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated expertise in program development and delivery through facilitated workshops, programs, and dynamic and engaging events.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities with the ability to inspire, engage, and manage independently while working on a multicampus and multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to cultivate partnerships and foster strong relationships within diverse communities.
