Description
This is a temporary, full-time Support Staff Bargaining Unit position, reporting to the Dean, Academic Excellence and Teaching Innovation. This position will start immediately and run through April 2024. Working 35 hours per week, earning an hourly rate of $26.47.

Provides front-line service to patrons at the circulation desk. Maintains necessary supplies and balances petty cash.

Provides reference services to patrons, promotes services available and assists with cataloguing of materials all from the main circulation desk.

Evening hours of work are required.


Specific Accountabilities:


  • Provides frontline service to patrons at the circulation desk, checking materials in and out, booking study rooms, answering patron questions and recording statistics.
  • Provides reference services to students, demonstrating how to use library research tools and assisting the patron in locating information and resources.
  • Promotes services available in the Teaching & Learning Commons to patrons and the greater college community.
  • Assists with cataloguing of materials.
  • Maintains necessary supplies at the circulation desk and balances petty cash.

Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • 2 year Library Technician Diploma, or equivalent level of education, required

Minimum one-year:

  • Experience working as a library technician and/or related academic support services, preferably in an academic library
  • Experience with office software and equipment (eg scanners, photocopiers), web browsers and automated library systems

Must possess:

  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
