POSITION BACKGROUND:
The HSLP Advisor provides specialized advice and guidance to supervisors and managers to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation.
This position requires that the HSLP Advisor handles all day-to-day safety issues that arise in Ketek buildings, yards, and job sites.
CORE DUTIES:

Compliance_
- Investigate/ record incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of ill health
- Participate in and facilitate HSE audits, reviews, and risk assessments
- Assist with weekly safety meetings in all Ketek Group buildings
- Assist with the completion of Formal Hazard Assessments for quotes, ongoing projects, and startups
- Conduct and document regular safety inspections of facilities and work sites
- Quarterly inspections of all branches
- Audit clients/contractors against applicable legislation and their own safety programs.
Program Facilitation_
- Monitor and evaluate occupational health and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable provincial regulations
- Coordinate unplanned event investigations and ensure effective underlying cause analysis and corrective actions are properly implemented
- Perform job site inspections
- Support the emergency preparedness processes and assist with training exercises
- Handle clients' safety requests and requirements
- Review Pre-Job Safety Instructions\Hazard Assessments (PSI's), Near Misses, Hazard Identifications and other proactive reports. Prepare and present findings to management.
- Mentor/educate site personnel on aspects of safety and safe work
Other Duties_
- Assist with training and the implementation of safety initiatives
- Support, coach and mentor the Safety Committee (where applicable), and provide safety analysis and status reports for those meetings
- Promote a culture of safety excellence
- Fill required paperwork
- Observe all safety procedures and use proper Personal Protective Equipment
- Ensure that all of Ketek policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are followed
- Be considerate of the needs of our community and the environment
- Represent Ketek in a light that is commensurate with the values of Management and the Corporate Vision and Mission Statements

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Required_
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO)
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a safety officer or advisor
- Minimum 2 years' oilfield and/or construction experience
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence and clean driver's abstract
- Fluent in the English language (reading, written, spoken)
- Able to deal with the public in a positive, courteous, and respectful manner
- Able to handle multiple tasks and frequent demanding deadlines
- Able to handle changing schedules and priorities, with high level prioritization skills
- Strong work ethic and organizational planning skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills
Preferred_
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification
- Knowledgeable in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia Health and Safety Legislation
- OHS Certtificate or Diploma

Physical Demands_
- Must work outside in all different weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat
- May at times be exposed to dangerous and/or toxic substances and must take necessary precautions to protect eyes, nose, and skin from irritation and infection
- May be required to work around heavyduty equipment
- Regularly required to stand/sit, talk/hear, use hands/fingers to operate a computer and telephone, stoop, and kneel
- Moderate exposure to computer screens
Work Environment_
- Office environment (20%), field environment (75%), and shop/yard environment (5%)
- May be required to work weekends and outside of regular office hours
- On call 24/
- Pre-Access drug and alcohol testing may be required for Client site visits
