GENERAL PURPOSE:
Technician cooperates in the development and use of analysis, measurement, and Quality tools to ensure quality in all facets of the organization in accordance with company values.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Collect samples for micro analysis, sensory evaluation and retain program for all products produced during the shift.
Responsible for the set-up of sensory evaluations.
Responsible for the management of the retain sample program.
Perform incoming raw materials testing and finished product testing. Testing knowledge includes pH, titration, micro sampling, viscosity, temperature measurements, etc.
Analysis and interpretation of microbiological testing and follow-up actions relating to food safety.
Perform equipment calibration checks.
Perform online product analysis, inspection and observation for any deviation to the standard product specifications and formulations.
Line inspection includes but not limited to weight checks of products, temperature checks, metal detector checks, code checks, verifying line paperwork in a systematic fashion.
Monitor and recognize food safety issues and follow through Hold and Release program as it applies to raw materials and/or finished products.
Responsible for the management of environmental swabbing programs.
Continuous learning of Food Safety Systems in place.
Filing, preparing reports, data entry and performing other related duties as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in the laboratory and production environment. Able to lift 50lbs.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or other related degree
Knowledge of GMP's, HACCP and WHMIS.
Scientific method and data gathering skills.
Lead others to solutions by being organized, patient and respectful, communication skills; set priorities and meet those standards.
Enforce and abide by all company rules and regulations.
Precision and quality minded.
Conflict recognition and resolution.
Patience and attention to detail.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
