About the role


As a member of the Primary Casualty and Environmental underwriting team, the role is at the core of our continued success in the environmental construction space and AIG's leading position in the commercial Insurance marketplace.

Primary Casualty and Environmental underwriters provide expertise by offering creative and flexible solutions for complex risks, spanning a variety of industries.


What you need to know:

Production and underwriting of profitable new and renewal Environmental and Construction business.

Risk selection and analysis using logical underwriting tools and methods to support decisions.

Ensuring all accounts are underwritten and structured with full regard to risk and profitability.

Ensuring all files are well documented and comply with departmental requirements.


Foster working relationships with our broker partners by expanding on existing relationships through relationship management or marketing using presentations or broker visits to help develop new business flow.

Respond to mid-term servicing requirements and account specific mid-term requirements.

Work collaboratively with colleagues for a One AIG multi-line approach, maximizing each opportunity.

Identify cross selling opportunities.

Grow targeted business and maintain profitability.


What we're looking for:

Experience in Commercial Property & Casualty underwriting.

A background in environmental science or engineering is welcomed.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Willingness for continuous improvement.

University degree or college diploma.

Excellent customer service and negotiation skills.

Ability to operate independently and collaboratively.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Strong decision-making skills.

A desire to stay up to date with industry, legal & regulatory trends.
