DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Registers and/or preregisters patients for inpatient, outpatient visits, quickly and accurately with the utmost in customer service.
  • Collects accommodation and insurance information and payment for services where applicable. Communicates with all involved services, such as Accounts/Finance, etc.
  • Responds to inquiries made by patients and visitors.
  • Data collection as requested by the Program
  • Responds to telephone inquiries and forwards calls where appropriate.
  • Liaises with patients, other department staff, and external customers.
  • Assists with other tasks as requested by the Program.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum accurate typing speed of 40wpm required.
  • Previous data entry experience required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize duties, problem solve and accurately carry out detailed work in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with others in a cooperative, facilitative and professional manner through all circumstances.
  • Must have an excellent punctuality and attendance record.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Previous experience in a hospital Admitting or registration department.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of St. Michael's Hospital.

HOURS:
Either 8 hrs or 4 hrs
