Overview:

Responsibilities:


  • To ensure that all business activities are in full compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, including Anti-Money Laundering policies, and the requirements of the relevant regulatory bodies as communicated by SMBCCB's Compliance Department.
  • To assist the Managing Director in the achievement of budget targets, the deepening of client relationships, the management of the assigned credit portfolio, and the effective marketing of the Bank's products and services through an indepth understanding of the industries in which a client operates. This position will provide day to day backup support to the Managing Director and occasional support to other marketing units to meet deadlines, support marketing initiatives or other extraordinary events.
  • To assist with the preparation of budgets and account plans for future business and prepare other analyses or reports as required by the Managing Director.
  • To ensure astute management of the Bank's credit portfolio through regular review of assigned credit files, careful review and control of documentation and security and ongoing monitoring and reporting of asset quality. This will include the ongoing monitoring of the assigned credit portfolio including the monitoring of revenue streams, asset size and other performance measurements as required.
  • To cultivate and maintain productive account relationships for the existing client portfolio and to handle and report to the Managing Director complaints from customers, if any, in a highly responsive manner.
  • To contribute to the achievement of the Bank's business growth, ancillary revenue and profitability targets through coordination and collaboration with other units of the bank and through effective control of asset quality.
  • To coordinate with internal and/or external legal counsel on legal documentation review, and clients to complete the KYC process.
  • To take the appropriate actions in identifying, monitoring and workingout special credit accounts and looking after the divestiture or the collection process if necessary.
  • To attend business meetings and clientrelated social functions as the Bank's representative to promote the business image of the Bank.
  • To provide necessary support and assistance to other affiliates in promoting global relationships with selected customers.
  • To perform other adhoc business related requests as required by the Managing Director.
  • Responsible in part for the allocation of assets/resources and the overall quality of the Bank's credit portfolio.
  • Responsible in part for the quality of the Bank's credit portfolio by making astute assessments of credit proposals and appropriate recommendations

Qualifications:

Knowledge:


  • University degree in Business or Economics.
  • A post graduate degree MBA, CPA, CFA preferred.

Experience:


  • 7+ years previous banking experience, primarily in corporate finance / banking, portfolio management.
  • Strong reasoning ability; understand complex situations, people and systems needs against backdrop of an everchanging regulatory environment;
  • Able to learn quickly and dissect complicated issues within a large financial institution
  • Knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture and foreign banks in general are desirable

Skills:


  • Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, interpersonal, presentation, negotiation and business development skills.
  • Strong analytical skills. Excellent writing skills is a "must"
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask, continuously prioritize tasks.
  • Advanced skill in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, and experience with online research systems.
  • Able to work independently on projects and tasks. Selfmotivated and actionoriented; adaptable to changes arising from Branch and SMBCwide transformation
