The Data/Operations Analyst position supports research, analytics and evidence-based decision making for the Community Standards and Neighbourhoods Branch.

Some examples of how your work will impact Edmontonians are through the evaluation of enforcement and community programs, informing the efficient deployment of City enforcement officers, and supporting the Problem Properties Initiative.

The branch works directly with Edmontonians and businesses to ensure urban spaces are clean, safe, connected and livable.

You will provide direct analytical support to the Community Standards and Neighbourhoods Branch leadership in the following ways:


  • Developing, collecting, analyzing, evaluating and disseminating complex data, performance measurements, and key performance indicators
  • Developing effective reports to assist senior and operational leadership in deployment of resources and service improvements
  • Developing effective data collection and reporting mechanisms, including trend analysis, neighbourhood trend analysis, chronic offender identification, heat mapping, causation analysis, risk terrain modeling, dashboards, surveys, etc.
  • Collaborating to identify and develop process and procedure improvements, conduct gap analysis and provide recommendations
  • Developing project evaluation tools and strategies
  • Conducting research and environmental scans to identify opportunities and trends
  • Assist in the preparation and drafting of reports, presentations, and other written materials

Qualifications:


  • University graduation in Statistics, Business, Criminology or other related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years related experience working in data analysis, research, geographic information systems, evaluation, business analysis and/or project management. Those who do not meet this requirement may be considered at the developmental level.
  • Skills and comprehensive knowledge of business, process modeling, implementation, performance measurement tools, strategic planning, qualitative and quantitative research, statistical methodology and evaluation techniques
  • Computer and software savvy, specifically in working with business process/planning software and analytics dashboards, such as Tableau, Looker Studio, ArcGIS, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences; ability to synthesize complex data into cohesive and relevant information for decision making
  • Exemplary writing, interpersonal, relationship building, organization and time management skills needed
  • Excellent analytical ability, data interpretation and problem solving skills

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance
