Dimensions:


The Mine Cost and Performance Analyst performs technical duties for site operations and projects and reports to the Technical Services Manager.


Purpose:


Essential Duties:

Being a site champion for the integrated mine cost modeling platform (Xeras, AMT, Tableau, BPC)

  • Preparing and calibrating mine operations and project costs using Newmont's standardized models (Xeras) and associated tools
  • Ensuring all forecasts and budget costs are sufficiently developed; processes are adequately applied and personal attention is appropriately employed
  • Development, accuracy and calibration of the (Tableau) reports and dashboards on costing and productivity.
  • Championing the adoption of improved costing approaches and tools at sites and projects.
  • Working multifunctionally with site and project teams, corporate model owner, vendors and leadership providing recommendations to maintain and improve cost models and associated analytics that provide valuable insight into our business.
  • Be available to provide assistance as required within the Technical Services.
Using Newmont's standardized cost models (Xeras), and associated data and analytics support operational and project outcomes, decision making and cost improvements by:

  • Proactively identifying cost and productivity opportunities, conducting evaluations and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Assessing mine cost and productivity risk, sensitivity and reliability.
  • Collaborating cross functionally and across various levels at the site providing operations and projects support with a focus on cost modelling.
  • Being the cost modeling specialist at site and ensuring crossfunctional alignment on cost drivers by coordinating information movement in the cost models
  • Evaluating and improving plan to plan to actual cost and productivity reconciliation, including utilization of the global databases and dashboards.
  • Assisting study, project and operations teams, including full potential, supplying mine productivity and cost expertise support.
  • Supporting peer cost and productivity capability training and mentorship.
  • Assisting in the preparation of funding requests (AFE), supporting their approval and monitoring spending.
Present & Communicate

  • Communicating and interacting with site representatives and partners throughout the work ensuring cost and productivity outcomes are satisfactorily delivered and objectives are met.
  • Preparing cost and productivity reports and other necessary documentation at regular intervals to share with others in the business.
  • Regularly interacting with the site mine, other functional areas, business planning and finance, corporate and regional representatives, other sites
  • Providing feedback grounded in practical knowledge.
  • Obtaining cooperation using effective change management and customer relations techniques

Training & Experience:


  • A graduate degree, in a minerals, technical or business related field, in excess of 4 years with exposure to mine operations and/or projects.
  • Understanding of the mining, processing, S&ER value chains from conception to closure.
  • Both technical and operational experience is preferred for this role.
  • Mine costing and financial skills, including mine budgeting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influencing others as required.
  • Welldeveloped problem solving skills, with the ability to find solutions with a team or independently.
  • Proactive work ethic with strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good oral and written communication skills to effectively convey results and evaluations.
  • Strong technical writing, group presentation, and interpersonal skills including cultural sensitivity.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Works effectively across the organization and in a crosscultural environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain an effective communications network with peers, Corporate, Regional and Site Business and Mine Technical and Operational Functions and Project teams.

Working Conditions:

The Cost and Performance Analyst is based at the Porcupine Site and support all operations.
The schedule is 4 days on, 3 days off
