Postion Overview:

Working at Dome Productions Oakville location, the Broadcast Bench technician setups, tests, and repairs electronic broadcast equipment used within our mobile facilities as well as supplementary equipment


Key Responsibilities:


  • Troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment to the component level
  • Test various electronic equipment using a variety of test equipment
  • Diagnose problems and perform repairs, board replacements, etc.
  • Perform calibrations and certification on various electronic devices
  • Make emergency repairs to equipment
  • Maintain, install and troubleshoot a wide variety of broadcast hardware and software.
  • Managing the entire repair process, keeping equipment moving through the department until its returns to its proper functionality
  • Documentation of source of problem, identifying parts needed and following through with staff to ensure parts are purchased in a timely fashion.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Leads, Mobile Engineers and Logistics staff and communicate repairs and estimates as needed
  • Must also be able to work with mechanical equipment using standard bench tools

Qualifications:


  • Post-Secondary Education in electronics engineering or relevant experience
  • Mechanical aptitude to perform bench testing, repairs and calibrations for various electronic equipment
  • Experience in component level repairs
  • Experience repairing video, audio or intercom equipment specific to broadcast television production is an asset
  • Ability to use different tools and test equipment used to perform repairs (ex: soldering iron, multimeter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer)
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics
  • Good knowledge of low and intermediate power converters, power supplies and inverters
  • Technically inclined, including good at working with your hands and an ability to problem solve
  • Physically able to occasionally lift and maneuver heavy equipment
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail when inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing units to ensure the work is accurate and complete
  • Troubleshoot, collect, compile, and analyze information to develop recommendations
  • Good manual skills and dexterity, resourcefulness, autonomy, precision, thoroughness
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fastpaced environment
