The Opportunity - Labour Relations Analyst


Carefor Health & Community Services is in search of a seasoned Labour Relations Analyst who takes pride in providing specialized labour relations consulting and coaching to business leaders, HR business partners, and stakeholders, on labour and employee relations activity.

The Analyst will provide coaching and consulting on complex performance management cases, discipline, grievances, workplace culture, and interpretation of the various collective agreements at Carefor.


What you will do:


This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who has extensive research skills, is up to date on trends in labour case law, and is looking forward to developing deep knowledge of Carefor's Collective Agreements.


  • Builds strong relationships and partners with the business leaders at the senior management, manager, and supervisor levels to understand the business and deliver appropriate, timely and highquality LR/HR solutions.
  • Partners with Human Resources Business Partners to provide sound LR advice, coaching and communication support, leveraging knowledge of HR and business practices to influence best outcomes for the organization. Directs and guides on complex files.
  • Provides advice to HR Business Partners, managers, and supervisors in line with employment legislation and relevant Collective Agreements and works with them on employee/labour relations issues as required.
  • Coordinates and leads all labour management meetings across various unionized groups, in collaboration with the Union and management stakeholders. Includes preparation of all required reporting.
  • Directs and leads the grievance process for Step 1 and 2, before transitioning files to Specialist for arbitration.
  • Prepares files, business cases and engages in extensive research to support employer position.
  • Provides support and guidance on complex accommodation and return to work files, in collaboration with the Disability and Leave Management Advisor.
  • Provides support in the preparation of collective bargaining.
  • Works within the HR team providing supports as needed.
  • Acts in accordance with Carefor's policies, values, and mission, etc.
  • Promotes and models a culture of health and safety and wellness among peers.
  • Other duties as required.


This position requires an energetic, innovative, and resourceful person equipped with the ability to build strong relationships with leadership, HR, and external stakeholders.

The incumbent will have the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time with their good organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.


The Labour Relations Analyst will also bring:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Industrial and Organization Development, Labour Relations, or a related field.
  • Professional HR Designation (CHRP or CHRL) or strong knowledge of HR technical areas gained through extensive equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in labour relations, ideally in a multiunion environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current employment related legislation, human resources practices and policies and labour relations and proven ability to advise clients.
  • Experience working with business leaders and guiding discussions related to complex files.
  • Extensive experience in interpreting collective agreements.
  • Experience preparing reports, business cases.
  • Understanding of disability management, longterm disability, returntowork, and accommodation requirements.
  • Experience in preparation of collective bargaining.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional client service orientation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to use discretion and maintain high degree of confidentiality.
  • Effective problem solving and decisionmaking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, time sensitive priorities.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Employment Standards Act)
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is considered an asset.
