THE OPPORTUNITY
Slegg Building Materials is looking for a Junior Category Manager to join our team. The shifts are Monday - Friday 7am - 4pm. We offer a dynamic work environment with growth opportunity and a competitive compensation package. This position will be based out of our Corporate Langford location.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

In keeping with overall corporate objectives execute on strategy for their category inclusive of vendor & merchandise selection, marketing, pricing and inventory levels/turns
Liaise between vendor and store
Assist in sales and development of assigned businesses
Leverage reports to find areas of opportunity and work with operational team leads to take corrective action
Discuss with vendors and propose new innovative products
Coordinate Vendor Training/event initiatives for store and sales teams on product knowledge
Set inventory management groups and maintain sku replenishment accuracy

THE REQUIREMENTS

Broad knowledge of building supplies and home improvement products is an asset
Superior customer service skills
Must be available for scheduled quarterly inventory; limited weekends and out of town work
Basic understanding of Inventory Management
Knowledge of Business Mathematics
Knowledge of Excel is essential
Knowledge of Microsoft Navision is an asset
Effective written and oral communication skills
Aptitude for problem solving
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
The ability to work accurately with attention to detail
Detail oriented with disciplined work habits
