Job description and requirements

  • There are three broad areas of responsibility for this position within the organization:
  • Responsibility for leading and developing a cohesive team, including health and safety, leadership development, succession planning and training of all employees
  • Responsibility for the achievement of the operating results, specifically including profit objectives, expense control, and management of assets and capital expenditures
  • Responsibility to develop strategies to support growth in both sales and profits, and foster synergistic opportunities with other print sector divisions, as well as with other corporate sectors.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Lead distribution management services across all channels available to retailers in Canada including distribution sales for TCowned channels, Targeo sales and Targeo operations
  • Maximize distribution sales into TCowned channels including all revenue flowing into national shared media products from flyers and developing new revenue streams around advertising on the jacket, special contests and other concepts
  • Integrate TC's digital products and data to provide customers enhanced analytics.
  • Enhance the current offering and develop new digital service components
  • Achievement of established profit objectives.
  • Promote the concept of employee empowerment and manage the process of organizational development, including training and succession planning initiatives
  • Establish performance goals for all activities related to the business unit.
  • Continuously monitor performance, setting priorities, and implementing corrective measures, where appropriate
  • Create and maintain a working environment based on high levels of commitment and motivation toward both the OU and Sector objectives
  • Assist and support team members in managing their responsibilities and ensure that communication and teamwork is promoted and used throughout the operation.
  • Oversee the budget preparation process, specifically in the areas of financial objectives, operations, and capital expenditures
  • Management of all environment policies and initiatives, as well as Health and Safety performance
  • Protect the assets of the Company
  • Communicate vertically, within the Corporation, the results of the OU, as well as any developments that may have an impact on corporation and/or other divisions in the group
  • Participate, as required, in any acquisition projects, expansion activities, or other projects that may affect the Group.

Success is tied to three critical deliverables:

  • Zero recordable injuries within the division
  • Maximizing TCowned distribution revenue
  • Position Targeo as the leading provider of distribution services in the industry
  • Bachelors Degree in Sales/Marketing or in Business/Finance
  • 5 to 10 years experience in the consumer retail industry and at least 5 years experience in a managerial position
  • Retail print industry and geomarketing experience is an asset
  • Strategic positioning of organizations, their growth and profitability
  • Demonstrated leadership skills (lead by example) and the ability to resolve conflicts with a strong sense for the human element
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills that are effective at all levels within the organization
  • Strong analytical, and problemsolving skills, and the ability to cope with complex details
