JOB SUMMARY
The Garage Attendant is responsible for performing semi
- skilled tasks in the repair and mechanical maintenance of automotive or other motorized equipment. Depending on the nature of the assignment, the Garage Attendant may provide support to the Service Attendant Fleet Services and Vehicle and Utility Equipment Technicians on complex repair jobs. Assignments are given orally and in writing, and work is checked through inspection of the work, through the performance of the equipment serviced or evaluation of the service provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential responsibilities of the job include but are not necessarily restricted to the following:

Primary Mechanical Duties:

Deliver and pickup fleet vehicles and auto parts
Perform light to medium mechanical maintenance to vehicles and equipment including oil changes, lights, wipers, tires, etc.
Refuel vehicles
Provide assistance to vehicle mechanics as required
Clean fleet vehicles (washing & vacuuming)
Shop housekeeping
Operation of ForkLift for shipping and receiving

Secondary Administrative functions:

Scheduling appointments with clients and with external repair shops
Answer customer questions regarding status of fleet items in for maintenance
Verify invoices
Input data into the Fleet Management Information System, query as requested
Replace the Fleet Services Attendant during absences
Other related duties as required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE- High School Diploma- Post-secondary education in the form of automotive programs at a college level considered an asset

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS- English essential, both oral and written- Bilingual (English/French) considered an asset.- Valid driver's license - Class DZ- Ability to pass periodic Driver Competency Assessment (DCA) testing- Ability to obtain and maintain operator certification for a variety of forklift types and sizes

The terms and conditions of employment for this position are governed by the collective agreement between Hydro Ottawa Limited and IBEW Local 636.
