QSP Geographics is looking for responsible and highly motivated individuals to conduct field surveying as part of a crew performing walking inspections of natural gas distribution systems throughout the Ottawa area.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Walking along natural gas pipelines, entering yards to inspect up to the gas meter, walking in rural areas occasionally through very rough terrain including creeks, streams, wooded areas, and various field types.
- All walking is during daylight hours.
- The job will also include various daily reporting duties which require data entry.
- All training will be provided by QSP.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
- Willing to commit fully to travel and life on the road when required
- Enjoy working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Physically fit and able to walk up to 20 km/day
- Ability to work alone in remote locations of various terrains
- Full Driver's License and 3year drivers abstract
- Minimum Post Secondary education or equivalent experience in a related field with Survey/GPS, GIS, Engineering Technology or Technical training.
- Industry experience with locating/utility mapping/asset collection (Gas, Electric, and Telecommunications) would be considered an asset.
In addition to having:
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills are highly regarded.
- A good understanding and command of the English language.
- Ability to work independently or part of a larger team environment.
