Adult Day Program Assistant

Health Services - Long Term Care

Status:

1 Regular Full Time Position - 40 hours per week

2 Regular Part Time Positions - no guarantee of hours


Hourly Rate:
$29.30-$31.00/hour (plus 14% in lieu of benefits)


Work mode:
Onsite - Peel Manor Long Term Care, 525 Main Street North., Brampton


Hours of work:
various shifts including alternate weekends and holidays


Who we are:

The Long-Term Care and Senior Services Divisions require staff to provide person-centered care to our residents and families following the Butterfly Model of Care.

This will ensure high levels of emotional wellbeing and a better quality of life for those living in our homes and participating in our Adult Day Programs.

We are looking for staff that bring passion and care to the work that they do.

What you will do in this role:_
Reporting to Supervisor, Adult Day and Community Services (or designate) you will provide therapeutic and recreational services and support the independence of clients in attendance at the Adult Day Service

  • Assist with providing activities, which are varied to meet the needs of the participants from the community
  • Assist the participants to integrate into the group activities and programs which may include hobbies, social events, spiritual care programs and therapeutic regimes
  • Assess participants' abilities and interests and recommend specific programs
  • Serve all meals and snacks to clients according to proper dietary requirements
  • Provide assistance for all activities of daily living
  • Maintain appropriate records in accordance with the policies and procedures and legislated standards of the Centre
  • Day Program Assistant responsibilities as per job description

_ What the role requires:

  • Post secondary diploma in Social Services or Gerontology, OR two (2) year Activation/Recreation Therapy Diploma from an accredited community college is required
  • Previous experience of at least one year in Adult Day Service or a long term care setting is preferred
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to communicate appropriately with residents, staff, volunteers and visitors
  • Computer skills are required
  • Must have a valid CPR/First Aid certification
  • May be required to hold a Class "F" license
  • Must have Food Handlers Certification
  • Must be physically able to perform all delegated duties
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

Compensation:
$29.30-$31.00/hour (RFT opportunity offers comprehensive benefit package plus/RPT opportunites - 14% in lieu of benefits)


Location:
Peel Manor - 525 Main Street North, Brampton


Hours of Work:
shifts could be between 7:30am-9:00pm, Sunday to Saturday.
