    Description
    Dalnavert Museum and Visitors' Centre is a non-profit organization focused on promoting and preserving local arts, culture and heritage.
    In 2005, the adjoining Visitors' Centre was built to help Dalnavert expand its programming.

    The Museum offers tours and educational programs, while the Visitors' Centre serves as a rental space for meetings and private functions.

    Description of Duties:

    The Outdoor Crowd Ambassador will help Dalnavert create a welcoming environment for visitors attending Doors Open 2024 (May 25 and 26).

    As an Outdoor Crowd Ambassador, you will help us ensure this event runs smoothly.
    You will provide basic information to visitors waiting to enter the historic house, help manage crowds, answer basic questions (ie.

    'Volunteers will mostly be stationed outdoors, but may be asked to work inside and help direct people to the Costume Museum's exhibit in the Visitors' Centre.

    Please dress for the weather and bring a reusable water bottle. We will attempt to provide you as much relief from weather as possible (ie. shade, breaks) but Dalnavert does not control the weather.

    Volunteers must be able to attend a 1 hour training session at Dalnavert on Sunday, May 19 at 10:30am.

    Available shifts are on May 25 and 26 between 9:30am and 4:30pm.
    Fluency in spoken English is required. Additional languages an asset

    Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time outdoors (including with the use of mobility aids) - This is a minimum 2.5 hour outdoors shift.

    Basic computer skills and email access are required for this.
    Develop your skills in Communication & interpersonal skills, community events, public speaking, working with the public, teamwork, and customer service
    Gain experience in museum and heritage related fields

    Time Commitment:
    Daytime , Weekend

    Volunteers must be able to attend a 1 hour training session at Dalnavert on Sunday, May 19 at 10:30am.

    Available shifts are on May 25 and 26. 5 hour shifts are available from 9:30am-12:00pm, 11:45am-2:15pm, and 2:00pm-4:30pm. Volunteers may sign up for back-to-back shifts or help out all day if they wish.
