Community Development Coordinator - ONFE School Breakfast Program


At the Ottawa Network for Education (ONFE) we fuel kids and ignite learning, making sure all children in Ottawa have an equal start every day.

ONFE is a charitable organization that collaborates with partners from education, business, government, and the community to develop enriching programs for K-12 students.

Working with the four public school boards, ONFE supports children and youth in English and French.

No other community organization has the same reach and ability to respond and deliver much-needed programs to schools across the region.


We are looking for an energetic, team-oriented individual with excellent relationship management skills to join the ONFE School Breakfast Program team.

Reporting to the Director, School Breakfast Program, you will provide support and resources to assigned school breakfast and snack programs.

You will be working as part of a team of Community Development Coordinators. You will work collaboratively on developing program resources and administrative processes to ensure that program objectives are met.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with principals and daily onsite program coordinators (program monitors, school staff and volunteers) to ensure smooth delivery of programs within assigned schools;
  • Establish new breakfast / snack programs in schools, as required;
  • Provide ongoing support to assigned schools;
  • Assist program coordinators in the creation of menus that meet the Ministry of Children Community and Social Services (MCCSS) Nutrition Guidelines;
  • Assist schools in ensuring food safety standards are met;
  • Deliver training programs for onsite program coordinators in collaboration with Ottawa Public Health;
  • Develop resource materials to support schools in program delivery and administration;
  • Complete onsite school evaluations for each assigned school;
  • Collect consistent program data including financial and participation data;
  • Maintain an inventory of school equipment purchases and track equipment needs for assigned schools;
  • Assist schools with volunteer recruitment and recognition;
  • Participate in regular ONFE School Breakfast Program team meetings;
  • Represent the ONFE School Breakfast Program at community events and fundraising activities as requested; and
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Minimum 35 years' experience in community development, social sciences, nutrition, education, health promotion or related field;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, team environment;
  • Experience managing multiple and complex stakeholder relationships;
  • Excellent data management skills and attention to detail;
  • Experience in schoolnutrition related programs (an asset);
  • Experience working with Ottawa schools and school boards (an asset); and
  • Knowledge of food safety practices (an asset).

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma in Social Sciences or equivalent;
  • Fluency in English and French (oral and written);
  • Driver's license, and access to a reliable motor vehicle with insurance coverage that has no policy restrictions for work related driving; and
  • Satisfactory Policy Record Check in alignment with ONFE's Conditions of Employment Policy.

Hybrid work:


  • ONFE offers a hybrid work environment, which requires work both in the office and remote.
This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week) permanent position, and the salary range is 50,000 to 60,000. ONFE offers a competitive benefit package including RSP matching.

Le ROPE est une organisation caritative qui collabore avec des partenaires de divers milieux - éducation, affaires, gouvernement et communautaire - à l'élaboration de programmes d'enrichissement pour les élèves de la maternelle à la 12e année.

Oeuvrant avec les quatre conseils scolaires, le ROPE offre du soutien aux enfants et aux jeunes en français et en anglais.

Aucun autre organisme communautaire n'a une telle portée ni une telle capacité d'offrir des programmes indispensables aux écoles de la région.


Nous sommes à la recherche d'une personne énergique, dotée d'un solide esprit d'équipe et d'excellentes compétences en gestion des relations pour compléter l'équipe du programme des petits déjeuners dans les écoles (PPDÉ) du ROPE.

Relevant de la directrice du PPDÉ, vous fournirez soutien et ressources aux programmes des petits déjeuners et collations qui vous seront assignés.

Au sein d'une équipe de CDC, vous collaborerez à l'élaboration de ressources de programme et de processus administratifs en vue d'assurer
