JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties:

  • The location for this position is: Edmonds Office, Burnaby.
  • BC Hydro's Supply Chain function is integral to keeping the business running and the lights on.
BC Hydro is transforming its Supply Chain to better meet the requirements for quality, safety and
- reliability in what we buy for the best total cost and to ensure mutually beneficial supplier
- relationships.
  • We are looking for teamoriented 3rd or 4th year Coop students who demonstrate strong
- will be working on various challenging and meaningful projects with a number of teams within

  • Supply Chain.
  • Working with project teams may include: data gathering and analysis of various suppliers and
categories of external expenditures to support effective decision making, developing presentation
- materials, and documentation in support of business improvement projects and/or processes. The
- student will be exposed to a variety of collaborative and independent projects, which require
- prioritization skills and attention to detail. Project work will be assigned based on the needs of the
- department and interests/strengths of the student.
  • The student will learn about Supply Chain and business improvement practices within the utility
industry and be given the opportunity to develop his/her communication skills, software skills,
- analytical skills, and professional judgment.

  • The student will be a part of a collaborative team of professionals who will support his/her
learning, critical thinking, and communication skills, and provide him/her with an ongoing
evaluation process throughout the term. The student will have access to various training courses
(both in-person and online) and the opportunity to observe and contribute to strategic planning
through attending meetings and workshops.


Qualifications:

graduate from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada.- 4th year Commerce/Economics Undergraduate or MBA students with previous work experience

are preferred.- Strong analytical skills, combined with good judgement, and ability to learn quickly.

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills and the ability to work
efficiently, independently, and in a team environment- High attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to take initiative in the workplace are

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required.
  • This position is for a four month work term with a potential to extend for one additional term.
