Position Summary:
Sets up and operates manual or computer-numerically-controlled (CNC) horizontal lathe to perform machining, operations, such as turning, boring, facing, and threading parts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Loads/ mounts materials into lathe manually or using a hoist/crane;
- Selects and installs cutting tools according to set up requirements;
- Removes and replaces dull cutting tools and attaches tools and work pieces to the lathe.
- Download control programs into individual machines;
- Observes numerical displays on control panel and compares with blueprint data to verify dimensional adjustments and speeds of machining cuts;
- Adjust machine settings and controls as necessary when problems arise;
- Calculate the amount of material to be loaded into the machine and make adjustments to the operating speed based on vibrations and sounds that may indicate a malfunction;
- Inspects fabricated part to ensure conformance to specifications using micrometers and precision dial gauges;
- Perform test operations to guarantee machine properly creates the precise part;
- Daily housekeeping and maintaining equipment and surrounding work area;
- Uphold all health & safety rules and regulations per Eagle's Health & Safety Manual and Ontario's Occupational Health & Safety Act;
- Uphold all employment standards, policies and procedures;
- Work in an organizational manner, documenting work performed in Job Sheets and submitting job sheets to reporting manager on a weekly basis;
- Prompt and regular attendance and working all assigned hours;
- Perform any other duties, as required.
Educational Requirements:
- Completion of high school
- Completion of onthejob training
- Completion of college technical training or apprenticeship an asset
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
- Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance;
- Knowledge of CNC machine language(G&M Programming Codes);
- Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings;

- Oldcastle, ON N0R 1L0: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- CNC Lathe: 4 years (preferred)
