    Our Red Chris operation is now recruiting for a Manager of Sustainability with a competitive base salary between $176, ,000/yr, with an additional short term and long-term incentives available.

    We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on an eight (8) days-on, six (6) days-off rotation.

    Health, Safety, Environment and Social performance play an integral role in maintaining social acceptance, continuing to maintain ESG leadership and support continuity of our operations.

    This role is essential in implementing strategic objectives, standards, systems and processes for environmental and social performance management at the site level.

    Operational Leadership has accountability to develop and execute site-specific environmental and social performance plans to solve problems at the local level in order to retain their social license to operate and meet sustainability objectives and targets.

    Critical to the success of the S&S function is clarity of the work of the roles and authorities at Enterprise, BU and assets and collaboration with other functions.

    Draw upon enterprise and site level resources to achieve purpose.
    Sustainability throughout the role describes work associated with environmental management and social performance. The Sustainability Manager is responsible for leading the S&ER function at Newmont's Red Chris Mine. The Sustainability Manager provides leadership, guidance, and support in execution of Red Chris's Sustainability & External Relations strategy.

    They will execute site specific plans that align with objectives, standards, systems and processes for environmental management and social performance essential to manage risks and meet performance requirements, KPIs/metrics and targets.

    Execute site-specific plans that embed sustainability standards, processes/tools, KPIs, metrics, objectives and targets.
    Coordinate and participate in compliance, assurance and governance activities associated with sustainability at the site level.
    Leads development and implementation of environmental and community engagement systems to ensure ESG performance
    Complete required regulatory reporting, community engagements, complaints/grievances and associated tracking to meet commitments and requirements.

    Develop site level (day-to-day) operating permits to meet site level project, exploration and brownfield project needs coordinating with BU and corporate SMEs.

    Implementation of permitting strategy, legal compliance and delivery of critical milestones for studies, projects, and exploration.

    Work in coordination with Technical Services and operations on environmental and social aspects of tailings, water, closure, waste management, processing and other operational activities to ensure compliance with regulatory, community and internal commitments and requirements.

    Proactive management of site environmental and social risks, ensuring that adequate controls are established and complied with
    Manage stakeholder relationships at site level (local government, communities, local NGO's)

    Support risk and performance reviews at the site level to identify gaps and action plans, that address performance improvements and ensure these are tracked in relevant Newmont management system(s).

    Routinely interfaces with site workforce, senior leaders within the business, and maintains relationships with governmental, regulatory agency personnel, and community leaders Complete event classifications, investigations and development of actions.

    Complete site level implementation of sustainability critical controls and verifications.

    Coordinate and support sustainability systems and compliance for environmental and social management systems including LOD1 and LO2 audits and actions.

    Support capacity building and setting performance objectives, expectations and priorities for the site level sustainability team members.
    Implement technical frameworks to support building of technical knowledge and skill development and succession plans.

    Cascade information and support implementation of corporate and BU developed programs to increase knowledge and skills in site-specific legal and other sustainability risk management.

    Coach and mentor team members and site leadership in:
    Environment and community risk and impact assessments
    Environment and community management systems
    Change management
    Technical (water, air, land, carbon, biodiversity, etc.)
    Social performance initiatives and partnership opportunities
    Community investment opportunities and performance
    Sustainability Risk Management

    Commercial - Budgeting, forecasting, and reporting financial metrics
    Develop and manage site S&ER budgets, provide S&ER support for capital investment requests.
    Lead site level development of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for environmental management and social performance.
    Develop, actively manage, and report against plans for costs, headcount and capital spend.

    Bachelor or master's level qualifications in Environmental science/ management, international relations, political science or social science, or other relevant degrees.

    Knowledge of legislation and standards in different regulatory settings, permitting, monitoring and management of performance for environment, and social performance.

    Mining and processing operations associated sustainability risks and management systems.
    Project Management and team management and building capacity fundamentals.
    Understanding and experience in external engagement with communities, external bodies, and regulatory authorities.
    Understanding and technical expertise in sustainability management (in mining preferred)
    Knowledge of mining industry and operations
    Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related field preferred.
    Knowledge of British Columbia and Federal environmental regulations.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with ArcGIS, MonitorPro and Enablon an asset.
    Strong experience in community & government dialogue and negotiations.
    Strong mining operational knowledge and experience.
    Technical Skills
    Demonstrated experience leading environmental permitting processes, of new and existing facilities.
    Demonstrated experience managing environmental inspections and other regulatory processes.

    Demonstrated technical experience in areas such as water, biodiversity, energy, air emissions, land management, social performance, conflict management, etc.

    Demonstrated experience in the areas of Human Rights, Community and Stakeholder Relations, Community Investments, and Partnerships.
    Experience and understanding of stakeholder engagement strategies to identify, address and mitigate environmental impacts in the community.
    Advanced proficiency in updating and undertaking detailed technical and legal compliance audits, reporting gaps and improvements.

    Advanced proficiency in incorporating regulatory and best-fit practices into environment, social and permitting policies, assessment standards, monitoring processes and reporting system.

    Advanced proficiency in advising operational leadership and support functions such as exploration on environmental, social and permitting requirements, identifying gaps and advising on solutions.

    Advanced proficiency in supporting operational leadership and technical and project teams to incorporate environmental and social matters and risks into their work.


    Competent commercial skills:
    budgets, forecasting, planning, analysis, reporting and engagement results.
    Social Process Skills
    Able to analyse own behaviours and impact on others and adapt behaviours to suit context and circumstances.
    Proficiency in dominant language of the site a must; proficiency in English a plus
    Physically able to manage intense periods of work and balance personal needs
    Support mine closure technical studies, closure cost estimates, and concurrent reclamation plans.
    Ensure implementation of Newmont's S&ER assurance program including internal and external environmental/social audits and technical reviews.
