Job Summary
Are you interested in working as a Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician with Indigenous families to build trust and supportive relationships within the community

MCFD's community based Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) teams work in partnership with families and communities to foster positive mental health outcomes and well-being for children and youth, and their families.

Child and Youth Mental Health Clinicians provide direct office-based clinical services such as intake, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety plans, waitlist management and crisis intervention for children and youth from birth to age 18 and their families.

Clinicians work in flexible ways, including in home, school and community settings.

Through consultation, the CYMH Clinician will build and maintain relationships to support coordinated services and positive outcomes for children, youth and families.

Job Requirements:

Masters in Social Work (Clinical Specialization), Educational Counselling Clinical Psychology or Child and Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at the Master's level, or equivalent.
NOTE: If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES).
Minimum of one year fulltime equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
Must possess and maintain a valid class 5 BC Driver's license with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Preference may be given to applicants:

With more than two years full-time equivalent experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
Who selfidentify as First Nations, Métis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.

Willingness Statements:

Will be required to use own vehicle on an expense account basis.
May be required to work evening/weekends.
Exposure to regular travel in remote locations.

About this Position:

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.

An eligibility list may be established for future permanent and/or temporary vacancies.

Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.

If hired, a successful applicant would be under-implemented at the Social Program Officer 21 classification with an employee development plan in place until the qualifications for Social Program Officer (CYMH) 24 are fully met.
