Position Summary
Reporting to the CFO, the Manager, Accounting is a hands-on role responsible for managing the execution of financial reporting and analysis to support the operations of the Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage monthend and yearend close processes, ensuring timeliness of the close process and production of accurate financial reports
- Lead daytoday accounting functions (GL account reconciliations, accounts payables, posting of journal entries, disbursements, etc) and provide support to Accounting Assistant
- Prepare financial statements and monthly reporting metrics to support Senior Leadership Team
- Assist with annual budget process by developing budgets, financial forecasts and providing variance analysis
- Provide yearend audit support required by external auditors including working papers, supporting information and responding to queries
- Prepare/review statutory reports including T3010, gaming reports and GST/PST returns
- Work closely with Donations Processing team ensuring accurate and efficient link between GL and donor database system (RE)
- Assist in the development and implementation of new processes and procedures to enhance workflow efficiency and effectiveness
- Review and maintain externally restricted funds
- Provide support and liaise with various stakeholders including staff of BC Women's Hospital, Women's Health Research Institute and Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) Finance
- Perform ad hoc analyses and projects as required
- Supervise Accounting Assistant
Qualifications
- CPA designation with a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- 5+ years relevant experience in positions that require financial reporting and analysis
- Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Peoplesoft and donor database system such as Raiser's Edge (RE) an asset
- Notforprofit experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Condition of Employment
As a condition of working at the Hospital, you must pass certain background checks under the standards set by the Provincial Health Services Authority (the "PHSA") including an initial and recurrent criminal records check(s) and an immunization check.
