VTT Head of Security
Vancouver Talmud Torah ("VTT") is currently recruiting for a Head of Security.
The Head of Security is primarily responsible for overseeing Vancouver Talmud Torah's security and safety for employees, students and the community.
Reporting to the Head of School, you will be responsible for organizing all matters related to security, security infrastructure and liaising with VTT's leadership team, law enforcement and the community.
Dress Code- Our security personnel are expected to wear the school's security uniform
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for VTT's students, staff, visitors and community
- Responsible for all security/crosswalk duties scheduled
- Liaise with Operations team at adjoining synagogue regarding sharing of the parkade and security systems
- Identify security initiatives and standards
- Monitor and control building access points
- Monitor and review video surveillance, as required
- Perform internal and external patrols
- Observe for signs of crime/disorder and investigate disturbances
- Remove people of concern from premises, if required
- Proactively address issues of concern
- Report unusual occurrences or any suspicious activity
- Ensure procedure and/or policy violations are properly addressed
- Create and maintain security protocols/ policies for VTT
- Ensure school is adequately staffed for all security needs
- Responsible for all FOBs issued including access areas
- Collaborates with Operations manager and Director of IT for all alarm and schedule related matters
- Maintains relationships with local law enforcement and other key organizations
- Be available oncall to manage emergency situations
- Be flexible and available to work extended hours when needed and especially during evening school events
- Oversee and manage security staff including performance reviews
- Minimum, Basic Security Training (BST) Level 1 qualification
- Preferred, Advanced Security Training (AST)
- Preferred, First Aid training (OFA 2 an asset)
- Minimum 5 years of security officer experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for all stakeholders
- Understanding of importance of customer service role of front line staff
- Proficient with security monitoring systems
- Proficient use of Google Suite and excel
- Highly organized
- Familiarity with verbal de escalation
- $60,000-$70,000 DOE
