Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is microscopic interpretation of gynaecological and non-gynaecological specimens to determine the presence or absence of cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Attends Fine Needle Clinics for Rapid Onsite Evaluation. The laboratory uses liquid-based cytology for all specimens.

Job Demands
By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):
Constantly lifts/moves objects less than 10 lbs and occasionally objects up to 30 lbs.
Constantly stands, sometimes for extended periods, or sits for extended periods requiring constant repetitive movement. Also, constant bending or stretching and working in awkward positions.
Constantly requires fine finger and precision work and requires the use of gross motor skills to perform with accurate control and steadiness.
Visual concentration is required when performing procedures and auditory concentration is required to communicate and give information, to listen for alarms, timers, etc.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized (accredited) program with a diploma in Cytotechnology is required.
Current and continuing certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) as a Cytotechnologist is required.
Current and continuing registration with the NL Council of Health Professionals is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
