***: The role will support the execution of HomeEquity Bank's Enterprise Risk Management Program by driving bank wide risk and control assessments, developing and monitoring Key Risk Indicators, and in the performance of control testing. The role will primarily focus on Operational Risk (including Fraud and Model Risk) while providing ancillary support on Credit Risk as needed. As a second line of defence role, it will provide independent challenge to the first line. Will ensure regulatory compliance with regards to OSFI and other applicable regulations and guidance.


MAJOR ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE:


  • Support in the execution and continuous improvement of the Bank's Enterprise Risk Management programs.
  • Drive the Bank's Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Program.
  • Perform bank wide control effectiveness testing and risk monitoring.
  • Track, monitor, and validate remediation of issues identified through the Bank's control testing programs.
  • Prepare reports on the results of control testing and work with business unit control owners to develop appropriate action plans to address any identified issues.
  • Build and maintain Risk Management KPIs/KRIs. This includes working with the Central Data Governance team to collect appropriate data to support the build out of KRI's and KPI's.
  • Assist in the review and risk assessments for new projects and initiatives to ensure continued compliance with the Bank's Risk Appetite Framework.
  • Support the function in delivering data driven insightful reporting to the Board.
  • Perform risk management, fraud, and money laundering investigations and reviews, as necessary.
  • Contribute to Risk Management Department projects and initiatives, as needed including expansion of the GRC platforms across multiple risk domains and compliance with new risk management regulations.
  • Promote risk awareness throughout the Bank for all risk categories including operational risk, fraud risk, and credit/ underwriting risk, and ensure that appropriate training is provided to Bank staff.
  • Provide active and direct support to resolve outstanding audit and regulatory issues and respond to ad hoc Senior Management and regulatory requests.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


Qualifications:


  • Post secondary education with 7+ years of experience in Risk Management and/ or Internal Audit in the banking industry, preferably in mortgage lending.
  • Prior experience independently designing, planning, communicating, and executing Risk Assessment, Monitoring, and Testing programs.
  • Deep, applied knowledge of OSFI Operational Risk (E21) Framework and Guidance.
  • Hands on experience with Data Visualization and Analytics tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Good to have: Broader knowledge of frameworks and industry best practices in Enterprise and Credit Risk.
