The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Support Clerk to join our team of professionals in the Protective Services - Fire Division, Administration Department.
Reporting to the Manager, Business Support - Fire, in this unionized position you will prepare and process fire related permits, tickets and respond to a variety of enquiries, requests and complaints in support of fire services.
This position requires considerable independence and judgment within established guidelines, and will appeal to applicants who are organized, detail-oriented and committed to excellence in customer service.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain a variety of records, reports and documents and act as a recording secretary, taking minutes at various meetings, as required
Process accounts receivable, accounts payable transactions and maintain supply inventory
Maintain computer/manual files, records and databases, and retrieve information from files as needed
Perform related work as required
Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12, preferably including or supplemented by commercial and accounting courses plus considerable related experience, preferably in a municipal environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Sound knowledge of modern business practices and procedures
Ability to draft routine correspondence and format reports, documents and forms
Knowledge of recordkeeping, billing, indexing and related clerical functions
Ability to communicate effectively with the public and internal/external contacts in processing a variety of enquiries, complaints and related matters
Knowledge in the operation of office equipment
Experience in a fire services environment is considered an asset
The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $ $33.30 per hour (5 steps, 2023 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm.
