We currently have an incredible opportunity for a Team Leader, Underwriting Quality for property and
casualty within our Underwriting and Loss Control Programs Department.

Within this exciting position, you will expand your technical expertise by building a deep understanding
of primary and reinsurance underwriting strategies, including loss control risk management. You will be
empowered to lead an underwriting team conducting quality reviews. As a liaison between Farm Mutual
Re and our mutual members, you will collaborate in the development of underwriting best practices and
execute initiatives to help Farm Mutual Re and the Mutual Community thrive


The Role:
This role has responsibility for leading the underwriting quality team. The team provides internal
reinsurance control by conducting underwriting audits on the underlying members' primary portfolios to
identify financial risk to the reinsurance program. The incumbent sets team procedures and builds
relationships with internal and external interested parties to influence the adoption of underwriting best
practices and support the mutual community in achieving long-term business success.

The job is hybrid and may involve infrequent travel to our mutual members.

  • Manage an endtoend underwriting audit cycle process to achieve goals and service standards,
  • Lead initiatives to improve profitability by converting audit findings into actional plans that
influence members to embed underwriting best practices into their operations,

  • Provide technical underwriting guidance to the team, membership and other interested parties,
  • Seek synergies with Reinsurance Underwriting, Loss Control, Technical Development and the
Ontario Mutual Insurance Association to influence consistent underwriting practices throughout
the mutual community,

  • Support the delivery of underwriting programs, including Portfolio Management and member
consultations.


Your Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong technical knowledge with 7+ years of underwriting complex commercial or agriculture
and residential classes, with preference for corporate underwriting experience,

  • Prior experience in a supervisory or management role is preferred.
  • A postsecondary education is required, preferably in business or a related discipline.
  • Completion or working towards a professional designation such as the CIP/FCIP.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problemsolving skills, and the ability to prioritize
competing demands and projects.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) along with exceptional interpersonal skills to
develop deep-rooted relationships, influence change and exhibit a collaborative leadership style,
and

  • Demonstrates a complement of product, pricing, and underwriting knowledge in decision
making.
