The Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) is a community-based, non-share capital corporation that operates, manages, maintains, and invests in the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport and affiliate businesses.

Operating on a multi-site property, the WAA is responsible for airport operations, security, facilities, parking, ground transportation and communications.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Airfield Services, the Project Security Escort is responsible to escort construction workers or other personnel into the restricted areas on the airfield and watch to ensure they do not travel in areas out of limits.

The Project Security Escort will remain with the construction group during construction to ensure they remain in their designated area.


Responsibilities include:


  • Escorting personnel to and from the airfield from the point of entry to secure work area;
  • Monitoring with Nav Canada for aircraft movement near secure work area;
  • Communication with Management of any anomalies;
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure personnel in the project remain in a predetermined secure work area;
  • Assist with the installation of equipment such as pylons, snow fence, obstruction lighting, etc.;
  • Cleaning of various equipment;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Selection Criteria include:


  • Class 5 Drivers License with a clean Driving Abstract required;
  • Ability to acquire and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Identification Card;
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Airport Vehicle Operator Permit "D" (AVOP);
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a restricted radio/telephone license (ROC-A);
  • Ability to work shift work in a 24/7 environment;
  • Must be able to work in varied environmental conditions independently as well as within a team environment;
  • Proven attendance and reliability;
  • Good communication and customer service skills;
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent;
