Shifts availability:

Option 1. Tuesday to Saturday - 6:00am to 2:00pm OR 2:00pm to 10:00pm OR 3:00pm to 11:00pm


Option 2. Sunday to Thursday - 6:00am to 2:00pm OR 2:00pm to 10:00pm OR 3:00pm to 11:00pm


Option 3:
Rotation


Week 1:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday - 8:00am to 8:00pm

Week 2:
Monday, Thursday, Friday - 8:00am to 8:00pm


Option 4. Rotation

Week 1:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday - 7:00pm to 7:00am

Week 2:
Monday, Thursday, Friday - 7:00pm to 7:00am

As a Direct Support Specialist, you will provide quality person-centered support to youth and adults using Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)-based interventions in the home, the community under the supervision of a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and Clinical and Operational Manager.

You will receive a comprehensive orientation including Advanced CPI Training and ongoing supervision.

As a Direct Support Specialist
, you will be:


  • Supporting clients with community involvement and independence to optimize the individual's quality of life
  • Assisting and teaching daily living activities, and life skills to promote the selfesteem and wellbeing
  • Daily documentation and reporting
  • Medication Administration (as delegated)
  • Managing challenging behaviors and situations using CPI knowledge and principles
  • Supporting clients with varied level of personal care (e.g. handoverhand, full support, etc.)
  • Assisting with household activities and chores
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

What you need to be successful
To take on the role of Direct Support Specialist, you must have:

  • Certificate from a related field such as Diploma in Behavior Science, Developmental Service Worker (DSW), Child and Youth Worker, Degree or Diploma from a Human Services related program. Consideration of Personal Support Worker certificate with relevant experience.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Clear Criminal record check with Vulnerable Sector Screening dated within the last 3 months
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle required
  • Driver's Abstract (3year Uncertified) dated within the last 3 months
  • Collaborative with an interdisciplinary team including family members
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proven interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Previous community experience working with youth with developmental disabilities, challenging behavior would be considered an asset
