Human Factors Specialist
We are looking for a Human Factors Specialist for our Peterborough, Ontario site.
BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world.
We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry's most challenging problems.
Today, BWXT's equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

At BWXT, you will work on technically challenging projects as a member of the Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineering team in support of on-power refuelling systems for CANDU reactors.
BWXT is seeking an experienced individual (minimum 5 years experience) to support engineering activities through the completion of Human Factors assessments in compliance with CNSC requirements, CSA N Human factors in design for nuclear power plants, and the NUREG Human Factors Engineering Program Review Model.
Supporting the execution of operating experience reviews, functional requirements analysis, task analysis, human error analysis, making human factors design recommendations as well as verification and/or acceptance of other Human Factors Analyst work.
Assessing the required level of Human Factors Engineering involvement based on project scope.Applying your knowledge of hardware and software controls, displays, annunciations and evaluations of interactions between the Human System Interface and the User(s).
Documenting analysis results in Human Factors Engineering Summary Reports.Supporting the development of Human Factors Engineering Verification and Validation Plans.
Providing input to the creation of proposals which focus on or include Human Factors Engineering scope.
Degree in Human Factors Engineering, Engineering Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related science with a focus on Human Factors coursework.
5+ years, Qualified Human Factors Specialist.Demonstrable experience in Human Factors Design, in regulated, high consequence industries such as Nuclear, Aerospace, Defense, Oil and Gas and Medical.
Ability to effectively interface with project team members, vendors and customers to ensure scope and requirements of the project are understood, and to ensure the project is executed per the project schedule and budget.
Active membership within a recognized Human Factors/Ergonomics society (e.g., Experience in the Canadian Nuclear Industry.General understanding of Engineering Change Control (ECC) concepts for the nuclear industry or other industries.
