Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist contributes to a variety of human resources projects and ongoing responsibilities and manages the employee lifecycle including talent management, performance management and evaluation, job descriptions and evaluation, recruitment, orientation, compensation & benefits, employee relations, HRIS, policy and procedure.


  • Orientation: Oversee logistics, scheduling, procedures and delivery of orientation sessions for employees joining the organization. Coordinate procedures for staff changing employment status within the organization.
  • Job Descriptions &

Job Evaluation:
Draft, update and comparatively analyze job descriptions. Use job evaluation process to assess the relative internal value of positions.

  • Employee Relations: Model positive, constructive communications, TSoM values and related behavioural practices. Coach staff to enhance demonstration of valuesdriven behaviours. Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Performance Management and Evaluation: Facilitate annual logistics and processes, supervisor coaching, as well as compensation and COLA reporting.
  • Policies and Procedures: Advise managers and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies and procedures. Ensure policies are compliant with relevant employment legislation.
  • HRIS and

Records Management:
Maintain HR information. Collect and maintain up-to-date employee information. Draft and run reports. Manage record keeping for confidential information including employee files. Coordinate processing and records management of Criminal Reference Checks (CRCs).

  • Research and Writing: Research, collect, compile and draft information for policies and procedures, employment legislation topics, compensation and benefits surveys. Prepare reports with summary findings and recommendations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Human Resources.
  • Minimum 23 years of HR generalist experience including performance evaluation systems, job description and evaluation, recruitment, orientation, employee relations, HRIS, policy and procedure
  • A member in good standing of the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA)
  • Working towards CHRP or CHRL is an asset.

Knowledge and Skills:


  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Advanced Microsoft skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Knowledge of applicable employment legislation
