Capital Power Corporation is currently seeking an innovative and results-oriented individual to join our Financial Reporting team
As the Financial Analyst, reporting to the Manager, Canada West Reporting, you are accountable for the timely and accurate accounting, reporting and analysis of the Alberta Commercial Portfolio, including both generation facilities as well as the commodity portfolio management trading activities.
This includes providing accounting support to the Commodities, Canada West Trading team, supporting related commodity settlement processes, monthly reporting and analysis of portfolio results, maintenance of financial reporting models, working with internal cross-functional business partners as well as performance of ad-hoc financial analysis in support of reporting requirements.
You Will Contribute to our team by- Preparing monthly accounting journal entries to record commodity portfolio management trading activities to support month end general ledger close process.- Analyzing various internal commodity transactions, including cross-border transactions, to ensure appropriate treatment.- Preparing and analyzing of the monthly financial report for the Alberta Commercial Portfolio, including collaboration with the Financial Planning and Analysis team.- Analyzing and reconciling of a number of key general ledger accounts.- Processing settlement of commodity management transactions including wholesale power and natural gas contracts as well as brokerage trading accounts.- Providing support to review of internal controls as well as external audit process.
Education:
- Post secondary degree specializing in accounting.
- CPA designation or nearing completion.
Experience:
- 35 years of accounting experience. Experience in an energy or utilities company considered an asset.
Technical Skills:
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to work with large sets of data.
- Proficiency with Excel required.
- Experience with Oracle Financials and Allegro would be an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Minimum travel required.
- Hybrid Office/Work from home position.
Hours of Work: 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week
Union:
CSU5- T2
Wage:
$ $53.35

Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.
