    Gringo Street, the vibrant heart of Latin American flavor on 17th Avenue in Calgary, is looking for a Sous Chef/Kitchen Manager to join our team

    If you have a passion for cooking with flair, a knack for creativity and a love of all things Latin American, then we want to hear from you As our Sous Chef/Kitchen Manager, you'll be leading the charge in our kitchen, and bringing fresh ideas to the table.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Manage weekly inventory assessments to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize food waste.
    • Developing new dishes and refining old favorites, implementing effective methodologies for kitchen operations, including cooking techniques, preparation methods, and kitchen organization.
    • Train kitchen staff on recipes, cooking techniques, and presentation to meet the standards set by the head chef.
    • Collaborate with the head chef on recipe creation and modification to enhance menu offerings and maintain freshness and quality.
    • Oversee food costing and pricing strategies to maximize profitability while maintaining quality.
    • Lead menu development by researching Latin-American culinary trends, designing new dishes, and refining existing menu items.
    • Manage food ordering process, including sourcing ingredients, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining relationships.
    • Create and maintain kitchen staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage while managing labor costs effectively.
    • Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring a smooth workflow and adherence to health and safety regulations.
    • Maintain a positive and productive working environment by fostering teamwork, communication, and professional growth among kitchen staff.

    Qualifications:

    • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume restaurant environment and know your way around Latin American cuisine like the back of your hand.
    • In-depth knowledge of kitchen best practices, culinary techniques, and flavor profiles.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire kitchen staff to greatness.
    • Thrive under pressure and love the challenge of adapting to whatever the kitchen throws your way.
    • A creative mindset with a passion for developing new menu ideas and refining old ones.
    • Solid understanding of food cost control, inventory management, and menu engineering.
    • Experience in food ordering, supplier management, and negotiation.
    • Proficiency in scheduling and labor management software preferred.
