Responsibilities:

Provide instruction in compliance with EAP Curriculum Guidelines and Canadian Language Benchmarks
Develop appropriate lesson plans, teaching methodologies, materials and activities based on the experiences, social contexts, and settlement goals of learners.
Incorporate a variety of learning materials into lesson plans to meet different learning styles
Prepare class activities related to various industries/professions to enhance participants' workplace communication skills, and understand the fundamental knowledge required for various positions in the Ontario/Canada
Combine classroom teaching with computer lab instruction using educational software
Work with individual students to determine their learning goals and provide regular feedback on their progress.
Ensure an antibias classroom atmosphere where participants are welcomed and are actively participating
Support outreach/recruitment efforts by providing input, encouraging referrals from existing learners, and supporting recruitment activities.
Monitor the settlement needs of learners and refer them to PCAS services and programs as appropriate.
Submit curriculum outlines, lesson plans, attendance records, and statistical and program reports on time.
Maintain program resources (e.g., computers, instructional materials, and books) and ensure they are in good condition.
Participate in regular team and agency meetings and events as required.
Prepare and administer assessments to evaluate students' progress.
Maintain clear and accurate records of student's achievements, outcomes, and attendance.
Orient students to relevant organizational policies
Collaborate with other staff within PCAS to ensure clients' success and integration in programming
Ensure the confidentiality of participants and agency files and documentation (electronic and hard copy) in accordance with all required policies
Complete monthly reports and provide narrative and statistical information as required
Participate in professional development sessions and incorporate relevant material to enhance program outcomes
Any other duties as deemed necessary.

Education, Training, and Experience:

TESL Certificate from a recognized institution and ongoing membership with TESL Ontario
Previous successful experience (minimum 2 years) teaching Workplace ESL or ELT at various levels
Registered with the Ontario College of Teachers would be an asset.
Excellent lessonplanning skills
Demonstrated experience working with adults of diverse cultural backgrounds
Experience delivering online training with working knowledge of virtual delivery tools and ESL educational software.
Solid knowledge of school programs, community resources, and services in the Greater Toronto Area.
Good knowledge of Canadian Language Benchmarks and ability to benchmark students' progress
Ability to work independently with solid time management and organizational skills
Punctual, reliable, and disciplined
Police Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory and must be provided before starting employment.
