Position Overview:


Scarborough Health Network is seeking a high energy and dynamic healthcare leader to join its team in an exciting opportunity to serve as Clinical Information System Specialist (CISS) to help support the clinical aspects of the clinical information system.

This position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Clinical Information System and works closely with the Director, Clinical Transformation, Program Directors, Managers and Physicians.

The CISS is responsible for overseeing, creating, and providing direct Epic efficiencies and optimization strategies, including training, supervising clinical and professional practice standards, and developing/and supporting professional expertise in patient care and education to meet the needs of those we serve.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide classroom and oneonone training by instructing Training Leads, Super Users, End Users and Support Personnel's.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Transformation and/or Director of Professional Practice, Regional Principal Trainers on input for training and training materials.
  • Evaluate the results of the skills assessment and observations to review and revise training as needed.
  • Communicate changes and enhancements of the Epic electronic health record to the end users.
  • Troubleshoots problems and responds to questions from end users.
  • Serve as a liaison between providers, leadership, HITS, SHN committees, and regional CIS committees to facilitate a common understanding for clinical best practices, workflows, etc.

Requirements:


  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Clinical Informatics or other health discipline or equivalent
  • Preferred Masters preparation in Nursing, Education, Clinical Informatics or other Health Discipline
  • EPIC Certified Credential Trainer or Principle Trainer or equivalent
  • Demonstrates recent clinical experience and expertise in a hospital setting and an aptitude for healthcare technology systems
  • Experience with electronic documentation & electronic learning environments
  • Demonstrates excellent problemsolving, decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues and volunteers and other members of the community and public
  • Demonstrated competency in the following: development of skills assessments, observations, ability to teach, ability to evaluate
  • Strong mentoring, coaching and leadership skills to facilitate change and innovation
  • Expert understanding of professional practice and patient care standards
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Ability to speak another language is an asset
  • Previous Epic experience or other electronic clinical information systems is an asset
  • Member of a professional association (i.e. RNAO, OPA, OKA, DAO) is an asset
