A fantastic full-time opportunity is available for an Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner to join our diverse team of surgical healthcare professionals at the Peter Lougheed Centre. In this role, you will be an essential part of the orthopedic and multi-disciplinary team that provides crucial day-to-day care, treatment planning, and interventions to patients. As an Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will leverage advanced clinical skills merging nursing and medical expertise to evaluate, diagnose, order and interpret tests, prescribe treatments, and conduct procedures to effectively address and fulfill the healthcare needs of patients.
With advanced education at the graduate level, NPs contribute significantly to collaborative inter-professional care by utilizing advanced practice nursing competencies such as clinical practice, education, leadership, and research. NPs possess a wide-ranging and independent scope of practice, enabling them to deliver a comprehensive array of healthcare services to individuals of all ages. NPs are responsible for practicing within the boundaries of their legal scope, regulatory requirements, and healthcare governance documents, always striving for continuous professional development and growth.
Role Description:
As a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will offer a comprehensive spectrum of healthcare services to individuals of all ages. Your key responsibilities include integrating clinical skills from both nursing and medical fields to assess, diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, recommend treatments, and conduct procedures to effectively address and fulfill patient healthcare requirements. Moreover, you will apply advanced nursing competencies in clinical practice, leadership in optimizing health systems, education, and research to enhance care quality, advocate for appropriate health service utilization, and influence healthcare systems positively. Please note that this position falls under a union represented by the Alberta Union of Nurse Practitioners (AUNP). For union-related inquiries, kindly reach out to AUNP directly.
Minimum Qualifications:Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program along with a master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.
Additional Criteria:We are seeking a motivated individual who is eager to learn and collaborate as a valued member of the orthopedic surgical team. Essential attributes include exceptional written and verbal communication skills, adeptness at teamwork, proficiency in handling challenging situations, strong computer proficiency, and a commitment to continuous education and certification relevant to the practice area. Fulfillment of AHS Annual Requirements (as per My Learning Link) is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience in Orthopedics and as an NP is advantageous, though not mandatory for application. Active practice as an NP in a pertinent acute care clinical environment within the past two years is preferred. Familiarity with Connect Care (Epic) and MS Office Suite is beneficial, as is experience in quality improvement and possession of quality improvement certification.
