Material Testing Technician Job Overview


Inline Group has an immediate opportunity available for a highly skilled
Materials Testing Technician in our Western Canadian Project locations.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with an exceptional management team on various Geotechnical Investigations and Testing all within a supportive and collaborative company culture.

Key Accountabilities

  • You will provide technical services in a field and lab office environment.
  • Preparation of reports and data entry on manual and digital reporting systems.
  • You will conduct on site testing of various materials on construction sites such as compaction testing and testing of concrete and asphalt.
  • Maintenance and care of materials testing equipment & vehicles.
  • Facilitate and maintain strong positive client relations.
  • Actively participate in Inline ISO 9001 Quality Program
  • Actively participate in Inline corporate HSE program
  • Actively participate in all clients mandated safety programs
  • Encourage safety & quality interventions. Lead by example for both fellow coworkers and all project personnel.

Minimum Qualification, Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of Nuclear Gauges usage and safe handling of the equipment.
  • Strong knowledge in field concrete testing procedures and equipment and laboratory testing requirements.
  • 35 years of industrial/civil materials testing experience at intermediate to senior level.
  • Valid class 5 drivers' licence with 5year clean drivers abstract.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Windows based Applications)
  • Strong problemsolving skills & ability to work under stressful environments.
  • Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy and care.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work independently and with mínimal supervision.
  • CSO, CSTS2020 Basic Modules, Standard First Aid, H2S Alive Certification
  • Ability to travel based on project demands.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Geotechnical/Civil Engineering diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior CCIL in Type-C/HMA, Type-QF/QL or CSA accreditation is an asset.
  • Previous experience in soils, concrete & asphalt testing activities.
  • Previous experience in piling.
  • Previous experience in Geotechnical Investigations is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with Geotechnical instrumentation is considered an asset.
  • PDA testing experience is considered an asset.
  • Locally based in a Western Canadian Province.

  • Projects are located in remote areas throughout Canada.
  • Accommodations and meals are provided at zero cost to the employee.
  • Fully paid flights or a flight allowance are provided to the employee to assist with transportation to and from the project site. Flight arrangements will vary depending on the worksite.
  • 80% more over time than a traditional 40hour workweek hour workdays
  • Scheduled work shifts (IE. 14 days on, 14 days off or 14 days on, 7 days off). Shifts will vary depending on the worksite.
