Fort Garry Industries has an exciting opportunity for a Category Manager to join our team at our head office in Winnipeg
The Category Manager is responsible for managing all products in their assigned category during the product's entire life cycle.

This will include planning & forecasting, sourcing, and procuring products, product launch, inventory management, promotions marketing plans and vendor relationship management.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Support inventory management in managing 20+ inventory categories
  • Coordinate with purchasing to define core vendor list by product category.
  • Coordinate with sales to transition noncore vendors to core vendors (managing tail spend)
  • Ensure vendor and product representation aligns with FGI's sales strategy.
  • Conduct line/vendor reviews. Identify product gaps and eliminate duplication within existing product categories.
  • Identify and support product and category growth opportunities.
  • Assist in analyzing category performance against targets.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Post Secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, and/or Business preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in Category management, purchasing, or product life cycle, preferably from the heavy duty or transportation Industry.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills within the heavy duty, transportation, or logistics industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of domestic and global supply chain logistics processes and pressures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing large and complex databases.
  • Prior ERP experience with Epicore, Oracle NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics an asset
  • Prior experience in negotiating and conducting presentations an asset.
