Lawrence curriculum, each semester is designed to meet the challenges unique to international students and exceed academic expectations through a combination of theory and hands-on experience.


Job Summary:


The Placement Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the work placement process for students participating in education programs with a working component.

They work closely with students, employers, faculty members, and administrative staff to ensure successful working placement experiences that aligns with academic goals.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Student Advising: Provide guidance to students on program requirements, eligibility criteria, and the work placement process.
  • Employer Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with employers, businesses, and organizations to secure work placement opportunities for students.
  • Placement Matching: Match students with suitable work placement positions based on their academic program, career goals, and skills.
  • Preparation Workshops: Organize workshops and training sessions to prepare students for work placements, covering topics such as resume writing, interview skills, and workplace etiquette.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly check in with students during their work placements to ensure they are meeting learning objectives and experiencing a positive work environment.
  • Academic Integration: Collaborate with faculty members to ensure that work placement experiences align with academic curriculum and learning outcomes.
  • Problem Resolution: Address any challenges or issues that arise during work placements, including conflicts between students and employers.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student placements, employer partnerships, and coop program data.
  • Compliance: Ensure that work placement programs comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Feedback and Assessment: Collect feedback from students, employers, and faculty to assess the effectiveness of the work placement program and make improvements as needed.
  • Networking: Attend industryrelated events and conferences to stay informed about work placement trends, opportunities, and best practices.
  • Post Graduate Support: Provide post graduate assistance and advice regarding job searching, interviewing, resume building etc.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, business or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of cooperative education principles and practices.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with employers and educational stakeholders.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with career development, resumebuilding, and job search strategies.
  • Experience in education, career counseling, or related roles is beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Previous experience coordinating work placement programs, CO-OP and/or internship programs.
  • Familiarity with educational software and databases used for tracking placements.
  • Membership in professional organizations related to cooperative education or career counseling.
