Student Project Coordinator

What You'll Be Working On


Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor.

We'll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment.

Projects are scoped in alignment with your term length, and typically focus on a current construction project.

We are seeking students to join us for 8-16 month co-op positions starting in May 2024. This role will be based out of Chalk River, ON.


Responsibilities:


Project Coordination:

  • Coordinate drawings and work specific scope/trades.
  • Review trade quotes, verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
  • Participate in project meetings.
  • Conduct deficiency walks and update deficiency logs.
  • Issue warranties.
  • Take and coordinate progress photos.
  • Update field drawings and produce asbuilt drawings.

Field Coordination:

  • Perform quantity takeoffs.
  • Coordinate subtrade work.
  • Verify site conditions and coordinate with drawings.
  • Supervises subtrade work.
  • Set up and maintain record keeping.
  • Layout site lines and grades using total station.

Scheduling:

  • Update project schedules.
  • Create manual schedules and update schedules
  • Obtain scheduling information from subtrades.
  • Create and maintain graphical scheduling
  • Monitor manpower productivity.

Who We Need On Our Team- You are currently enrolled in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related program.- You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher- Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships- Exemplify the Ideal Team Player - Hungry, Humble, Smart- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills- Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals- Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude- Residency, or a valid work permit which would authorize you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries- If you are selected for a role with client specific requirements, you may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing.
