Description

At Merit Kitchens, the Intermediate Fabricator will use their pre-fabrication knowledge and utilize their machinery experience to create and sand dovetails, cut wooden pieces to fulfill orders, and chop skin parts and hanging rails.

The Intermediate Fabrication will ensure all pieces pass our quality control systems and verify all fabricated parts match the attached paperwork.

Merit Kitchens believes in teamwork and cross-training, and the Intermediate Assembler can be expected to work in a variety of different areas as required for daily operations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Understand the different species of wood to identify which materials are needed for the order (maple, oak, cherry, etc.).
  • Cut components of each type of wood material needed to fulfill the order.
  • Learn to use a variety of machines and equipment including the dovetail machine, sanding machine, and overhead router.
  • Utilize the chop saw, table saw, and unique machines (ex. Router shaper) to create the parts needed to fulfill an order.
  • Verify all prefabricated doors are up to Merit standards and functionality.
  • Verify purchased doors match the attached paperwork.
  • Route skin parts and chop hanging rails.
  • Sand dovetail boxes to ensure soft coating and no sharp edges.
  • Construct dovetail boxes, door parts, and columns for future assembly.
  • When necessary, assist in the production of line of other departments including Panel Processing, Assembly, Finishing, Doors & Parts, and Shipping.
  • Tasks can include but are not limited to: pulling cabinets, on line sanding, preassembly, sizing, and parts wrapping.
  • Maintain and clean working area free from sawdust and debris between tasks, and at the beginning and end of the day.
The Intermediate Fabricator may perform other duties as delegated by Management.


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:


  • 2+ years of cabinetry experience.
  • Understand the safe operation of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with mínimal supervision.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

WAGE EXPECTATION:

- $17 to $20 per hour based on experience.
