Description

The Housekeeper shall provide housekeeping and other services to residents in a safe and efficient manner, according to the policies and procedures of the Home.


Employment Terms:

1. $16.75 to $17.00 an hour, 30 to 37.5 hours per week


  • Must have the ability to commute to work (3140 Gendron Road, Hammond ON).
  • Must have a Canadian work permit.
  • Must be bilingual.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Operates and cleans equipment, furniture and cleans and maintains all areas related to residents as per work routines.
  • Cleans resident rooms on a weekly basis following the schedule set out by the home.
  • Provides services and interacts with residents and resident family members in a professional manner.
  • Participates as a member of the maintenance team and provides support to the other members of the team.
  • Projects the appropriate image and focus on customer service in their dealings with residents, families and guests.
  • Observes and adheres to all policies and procedures, work standards and safety regulations.
  • Provides personal laundry services for residents in accordance with established work routines.
  • Assists and attends to the needs of the residents as required.
  • Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
  • Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, coworkers, and residents.
  • Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
  • Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:


  • Previous experience in housekeeping and/or laundry services.
  • Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read and communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors.
  • Effective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints.
  • Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Must be able to operate related equipment.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time as well as lift and carrying heavy trays and items.
