The Safety Codes Council (Council) is an independent, self-funded regulatory organization mandated to provide oversight of the system and technical disciplines through a number of key legislated functions and client focused services.

THE OPPORTUNITY


The Program Advisor is the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders of Council certification and training programs, and plays a leading role in providing professional, accurate, and timely client service.

JOB DETAILS

  • Coordinate and schedule classrooms, webinars and online meetings including providing support to instructors, students, and participants.
  • Track and maintain rosters of approved proctors, and contracts with course advisors, and instructors.
  • Assist with administration of the SCO continuing education program, including answering client and stakeholder inquiries, conducting research into Continuing Education opportunities, and maintaining a database of completed training.
  • Conduct useracceptance testing for enhancements to Council Connect and other business systems in accordance with established processes and standards.
  • Conduct research to support program enhancements or identify potential educational opportunities offered by other organizations that could benefit Council clients.
  • Manage client information in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and maintain accurate electronic and physical client records and notes.
  • Support project and ongoing working groups, including scheduling meetings, preparing, and distributing agendas and supporting documents, participating in meetings, taking meeting minutes, monitoring and ensuring that action items are addressed.

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Postsecondary certificate, diploma or degree in office or business administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a professional office environment providing client service.
  • Experience using office software (e.g., Adobe, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Zoom).
  • Experience drafting correspondence and other documents of a complex nature with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Experience with a CRM database is an asset.
  • Ability to type approximately 60 words per minute for minute taking at meetings where information is shared orally.

About the Safety Codes Council
The (Council) is an independent regulatory body established in 1993 under the _Act_.

The Council provides oversight of Alberta's safety codes system through a number of key mandated functions including:


  • Accrediting and monitoring the compliance of municipalities, agencies, corporations, and regional service commissions in administering the _Act_ within specified jurisdictions.
  • For the 300,000 Albertans who live in unaccredited areas of the province, the Alberta Safety Codes Authority (ASCA) conducts permitting, inspections and oversees spill and incident reporting requirements for storage tank systems across the province.
  • Training and certifying safety codes officers to inspect the construction, installation and maintenance of Alberta's structures and systems and administering Alberta's Master Electrician program.
  • Reviewing, formulating, safety codes and standards, and evaluating emerging issues in the safety codes system to provide recommendations to Alberta Municipal Affairs.
