AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Plant Manager to provide leadership to the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) Central Utilities Plant and Cogeneration facility located near the Lester B.

Pearson Airport. AtkinsRéalis operates and maintains the two facilities under contract to the owner, the GTAA.

The Cogeneration facility is comprised of a gas cycle and a steam cycle.

The gas cycle includes two (2) gas turbine generators, and the steam cycle includes one (1) steam turbine generator set.

The combined electrical power output from the three (3) generators is 117MW (design conditions).


The Plant Manager will be participating in the administration of other projects in southern Ontario and participating in the development of new Operations and Maintenance opportunities.


The Plant Manager will be responsible for management of plant personnel (16 staff) composed of both unionized and non-unionized personnel, and all other business related functions.

Your role within the team:


  • Accountable for Health, Safety, & Environmental performance in accordance with contract, corporate and Regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the financial results and requirements of the plant's business to ensure that revenue and expense goals are met as established in the annual business plan.
  • Oversee the development of capital and operating budgets. Provides for business projections as required.
  • Develop an annual operating budget for the facility with input from the team.
  • Set goals and objectives for the plant for financial, environmental, health and safety, and personnel results.
  • Manage and develop the team. Provide consistent supervision and feedback to personnel, model a strong safety culture and foster an inclusive workplace.
  • Manage vendor, contractor, client, and other contracts.
  • Accountable for the development and implementation of all required corporate policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Accountable for the routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; supports corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment.
  • Accountable for the planning and execution of outage and shutdown activities including coordination with client, regulators, contractors, specialist consultants etc.
  • Maintain the relationship with the client and ensures all contract obligations are met.
