QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Graduate from a Health Information Services Program required 
Certification member in good standing with Canadian Health Information Management Association

(CHIMA) required 
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a clinical records setting is required 
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in Ambulatory Care coding required 
Experience in the CIHI Canadian Coding Standards, NACRS abstracting manuals and ICD-10-CA/CCI

databases is required 
Strong understanding of professional standards with respect to privacy, confidentiality, security of patient

information and client records 

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention required (training delivered by Health Centre upon hire) 
Experience in all areas of Release of information duties is required 
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in qualitative and quantitative analysis as determined by the

Manager 
Knowledge of Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), 2004 
Working knowledge of computerized records systems (Meditech) and abstracting programs (3M) is

required 
Coding proficiency testing is required 
Keyboarding skills (60 wpm/95% accuracy) and Data Entry (6200 kph/95% accuracy) required 
Ability to work with minimum supervision required 
Good attendance and work record required 
Must demonstrate commitment to ensure their safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers,

and visitors events in this organization 
Commitment to continued professional and personal growth and development 
Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes and

operative procedures an asset 
Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

Criminal Reference Check including the Vulnerable Sector Check recent within six (6) months is a requirement

North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique health care organization with three primary roles: providing

acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, functioning as the district referral centre providing

specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it's the specialized mental health service provider serving

all of northeast Ontario. At more than 400 beds, our state-of-the-art regional health centre has over 150 physicians,

2300 employees and 250 volunteers.
