We are seeking a physician assistant to become part of our multidisciplinary team in Welland.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Interviewing, examining, and diagnosing patients' injuries and illnesses.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
  • Prescribing medications and suggesting lifestyle changes.
  • Stitching wounds, setting bones, assisting in surgeries, and administering immunizations.
  • Reviewing and maintaining patients' medical histories and records and recording patients' progress.
  • Providing documentation for insurance companies.
  • Educating and counseling patients and their families.
  • Researching the latest treatments, innovations, advances, and trends in the medical industry.
  • Conducting or participating in outreach programs, making house calls, and visiting nursing homes to treat patients.
  • Phlebotomy experience is an asset
  • Provide direct clinical care to patients and consult with and refer to other health care professionals as indicated.
  • Recommend and explain appropriate diagnostic tests and treatment.
  • Perform specialized and technical procedures, including assisting in the procedure room
  • Confer with patients or family members to address any follow
- up care concerns.

  • Fully document all aspects of patient care and assist with completion of all required documentation.
  • The primary responsibility of the PA is to provide comprehensive direct patient care, within their skill matrix, as a central member of the medical team.
  • The PA is expected to help with the workflow of the clinic, when needed make appointments and manage the physician's schedule.
  • The PA is expected to participate in interdisciplinary collaboration in the provision of patient care.

Desired Skills & Experience:


  • BSc/MA in Physician Assistant Studies, Health Science or Medical Science
  • Proven work experience as a Physician Assistant for 1 year at least
  • Work collaboratively with all health care providers, patients and families, to ensure continuity of care is maintained.
  • Encourage and ensure good working relationships with all members of the team.
  • In exceptional circumstances, provide additional services under the direction and supervision of a Physician, within the clinical competence of the PA.

Schedule:


  • Typical schedule during the week will be 9am to 5pm or as required by the business
  • 1 evening shift required per week, 12pm8pm
  • 1 weekend shift per month, 10am5pm

Salary:
$20.00-$22.00 per hour commensurate with experience
