Summary
Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Cement Plant Maintenance Manager.

We are looking for a hands-on leader who can combine strategic planning and operational execution to manage and maintain predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance programs for our 24/7 plant operation.

This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and is based in Picton, Ontario, Canada.

The Picton plant is serving markets in Canada and the US and is expected to further develop it's production volumes due to strong and increasing demand.

The plant is located in Picton, which is part of the beautiful Prince Edward County, about 2 hours east of Toronto.


What you'll get to do


Manage and lead the maintenance department to ensure all plant and mobile equipment is maintained and in good, reliable operating condition to minimize downtime and optimize production, while ensuring the safety and health of plant employees and contractors and observing the annual budget.


Specifically:

  • Proactively manage Health & Safety initiatives to continuously improve the company's performance and promote the highest level of safety.
  • Together with the reliability engineer and his team, continue to develop a preventive and predictive mindset as well as tools and processes to minimize emergent and unplanned maintenance tasks.
  • Develop the annual maintenance budget.
  • Manage and oversee the execution, resource allocation and budget control for the implementation of mechanical and electrical maintenance systems including modification and improvement projects.
  • Closely cooperate with the purchasing department to continuously develop a cost efficient and reliable critical material and spare parts inventory.
  • Drive digital initiatives to further streamline processes and reliability.
  • Support sustainability initiatives to reduce green house gas emissions as per company roadmap and participate in other environmental initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing support to the plant for all shifts by managing the maintenance oncall program
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership to assist the production, process, and maintenance departments
  • Develop a longterm vision for the Maintenance Department
  • Serve as a liaison between the plant and corporate engineering group regarding maintenance activities
  • Ensure all compliance requirements are met
As maintenance manager, you will be an integral part of the plant management team and thus you will have the opportunity to proactively lead the direction of the plant in the mid and long term,


Education And Experience Required:


  • Masters or bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years' handson experience in a maintenance management or elevated supervisory role in a heavy manufacturing environment cement plant experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of preventive/predictive maintenance principles, techniques, and technologies
  • Understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated track record of leading maintenance teams,
  • Experience in managing contractors and a strong understanding of contractual matters (negotiation and legal aspects)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
